Sen. Michael O'Donnell confirms gift of alcohol to party with Wichita State studentsA Kansas state senator confirmed providing liquor to an off-campus party with Wichita State University fraternity members in February but rejected assertions of wider involvement in supplying alcohol to students who worked in his political campaigns. Sen. Michael O'Donnell, R-Wichita, said in an interview this week he brought cake, pizza and spirits -- the liquor was a gift to a person turning 21 -- to the party last month at a private residence in Wichita. Photographs of O'Donnell on the social media site Snapchat showed the senator at the event with WSU students and holding a sign touting the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump. Subsequent interviews demonstrated underage people attended that birthday bash with O'Donnell. The senator also was accused of providing alcoholic beverages to students in other settings. "I did buy for my friend's birthday party," said the senator, who described it as a one-time occurrence. "Not only do I not buy it, I definitely don't provide it for people -- outside of that birthday party."
