Wolf Administration settles dispute with lawmakers over Public Employee Retirement CommissionTwo midstate Republican lawmakers have declared a preliminary win in their suit to stop the Wolf Administration from closing the tiny Public Employee Retirement Commission and folding its duties into the governor's budget office. Reps. Steve Bloom, R-Carlisle, and Seth Grove, R-Spring Grove, have reached a temporary agreement that reinstates the commission's operational independence, though its three full-time staff will be assigned to the budget office strictly for payroll purposes. That agreement will stay in place while the lawmakers' case-in-chief, which seeks to stop Gov. Tom Wolf's plan to eliminate PERC, is considered by the full Commonwealth Court this spring. The PERC offices were closed in February after Wolf zeroed out its appropriation in the budget bill that he partially-accepted in December.
