With state lawmakers and Baltimore County Council members considering bills to limit gambling at the state fairgrounds in Timonium, the organization is seriously mulling a move out of the county, a top fair official said Friday. "We are not the Timonium fair. We are not the Baltimore County fair. We are the state fair … We're looking elsewhere," said William C. Marlow, an attorney for the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society, which owns the fairgrounds and operates the annual state fair. Marlow said the state fair has regularly been wooed by other counties that want to lure it to their jurisdiction, and also by companies that want to buy the fair's land in Timonium. Those offers have always been rebuffed, Marlow said, but that could change. He said the state fair feels like it's no longer wanted by the community. The state fair property on York Road is about 89 acres with a mix of manufacturing and business zoning, according to county and state records. It's valued at about $50 million for tax purposes.
