Massive blaze starts in Brooklyn Laundromat, rips through 4 commercial buildings
A three-alarm fire ripped through four commercial buildings early Sunday in Brooklyn, said an FDNY official and witnesses. The initial blaze started in a Laundromat on Blake Ave. near Fountain Ave. in East New York at 12:33 a.m., the FDNY official said. It quickly spread to a discount store, a deli and a pharmacy. Maria Sarmpento lives across the street from the burning buildings. She thought a car was on fire when she saw the smoke. “My daughter initially thought her car was on fire, but it was the stores instead,” said the 45-year-old. “Everything burned down. The discount store — it had everything. Now it doesn’t have anything.” Read more: www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/massive-blaze-tears-brooklyn-buildings-article-1.2554474
