Man, 36, arrested for detonating makeshift bomb he attached to car in the Bronx A 36-year-old man has been arrested for detonating an explosive device affixed to another man’s car in the Bronx, police said on Sunday. Richard Laugel was charged with attempted murder, arson and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Laugel allegedly attached the makeshift bomb — made up of two aerosol cans and rigged with a detonator — to the victim’s rental car and triggered the explosion after with the man inside near Roberts and Hahan Aves. in Pelham Bay last Wednesday night, according to officials. The blast damaged the undercarriage of the red Nissan hatchback. A woman was also in the car at the time but neither passenger was injured.
