Louisiana Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards' staff is working with the White House to coordinate a meeting with President Barack Obama when he visits Baton Rouge next week. "It's a possibility," said Richard Carbo, Edwards' communications director. "It's something we're in contact with the White House about, but nothing has been confirmed." A meeting seems natural considering Edwards is the only elected governor in the Deep South who is a Democrat. Obama is scheduled to be in Baton Rouge Thursday, but the White House hasn't released the president's schedule. Edwards has vowed to usher in the Medicaid expansion that is part of Obama's Affordable Care Act after Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal has repeatedly blocked the expansion.
