ICE raid in Irving shatters Salvadoran family’s reunion and hopes IRVING — New Year’s Eve was festive for the family of Melva Medina and her husband, David. Photos show Melva’s daughter Marta Hernàndez, with her tight-lipped smile, and her 6- and 9-year-old grandsons at a big reunion. It was like any family gathering in America. Two days later, at their small, peach-colored wood-frame home on Dory Lane in Irving, David watched helplessly as his youngest grandson tugged at his pant legs. Kenneth hollered in Spanish, “Abuelo, I don’t want to go. Abuelo, I don’t want to go. I want to stay with you.” A federal immigration agent told them they had no choice. Kenneth, brother Cesar, and their mother, 33-year-old Marta, were to be deported.
