The Philadelphia Housing Authority will be imploding two public-housing high-rises in North Philadelphia Saturday. The implosion is scheduled to take place at 7:15 a.m. at the Norman Blumberg Apartments, near 23rd and Jefferson Streets. Some streets will be closed for part of the day starting at 5 a.m. SEPTA Bus Routes 33 and 61 will be detoured around the affected area. The housing agency said that one of the three high-rises will not be demolished and instead will be renovated and will remain as a senior residence.
