CASTLE ROCK — A retired Army colonel accused of driving drunk and killing a state trooper in a November hit-and-run will face trial July 25, a judge ruled Monday. Douglas County District Judge Richard Caschette rejected a request from Eric Peter Henderson's attorneys to continue his arraignment and instead set the case to go before a jury over five days. Henderson, 52, has been charged with hit-and-run, vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence — all felonies. He also faces two misdemeanor charges of drunken driving. A plea of "not guilty" was entered on his behalf. Henderson, who is free after posting $500,000 bail, allegedly killed Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, 33, on Nov. 15 on Interstate 25 in Castle Rock.
