MONTPELIER — House lawmakers gave final approval Thursday to the 2017 fiscal year budget — and the tax and fee bills that will support it — after dispatching with several amendments. The Democrat-led House approved the budget on a 94-40 vote. The $5.77 billion total budget, up 2.5 percent from the current year, will now head to the Senate for its consideration. General funding spending, meanwhile, will rise by about 4 percent to $1.48 billion. It received preliminary approval Wednesday by a 95-48 margin. Separate tax and fee bills that will support the budget were given final approval on voice votes Thursday. The fee bill, which raises about $24 million, and the tax bill, which raises about $13 million, were advanced Wednesday by votes of 98-46 and 86-59, respectively.
