Harrisburg police chief to nephew's killer: 'Enjoy your last freaking days'
HARRISBURG – City police Chief Thomas Carter has seen countless families rocked by gun violence in Harrisburg.
But he never imagined his own family would be the next devastated by a shooting on the streets he tries to keep safe.
Carter's 36-year-old nephew John Thomas Carter III became Harrisburg's fifth homicide victim of 2016 after he was gunned down in uptown Harrisburg Saturday afternoon.
"It hurts," Carter said to more than 50 gathered at a prayer vigil to honor his nephew Tuesday night. And while he said "God is good" and a band of angels has wrapped its arms around John Carter, Chief Carter vowed to hunt down whomever killed his nephew as he walked over and spoke where he was found lying on Saturday.
