Settlement from lawsuit over Dames Point terminal nets JaxPort $10.25 million
The Jacksonville Port Authority will receive $10.25 million for settling a complex legal battle over failing pavement at the Dames Point shipping terminal that opened just seven years ago. That’s just a fraction of what the Jacksonville Port Authority once projected repairs might cost, but a port spokeswoman said experts concluded the earlier figures were too high. “We do plan to repair the terminal’s pavement using the settlement funds and we are satisfied with the outcome,” spokeswoman Nancy Rubin said. No one admitted any blame in agreements that were signed between November and this month.
