CHEYENNE – When Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders took the stage in Laramie on Tuesday night, standing before a packed house of nearly 2,000 people at the University of Wyoming Arts & Sciences Auditorium, the massive turnout of Democrats in one of the most heavily-Republican states didn’t escape his attention. “I was told that there were about 5,000 people who participated in the last Wyoming caucus,” Sanders said. “And it looks like all of them are here tonight!” As applause lines go, it couldn’t have gone over much better, at least until just moments later, when Sanders added that the major media networks were projecting him the winner in the Wisconsin primaries. Sanders and his wife, Jane, both made campaign stops in Wyoming on Tuesday ahead of the state’s Saturday caucuses. Sanders hopes to win to further a narrative that momentum now favors him over Democratic rival and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton currently leads Sanders in the delegate count.
