Rep. David Bowen, D-Milwaukee, vice-chairman of the state Democratic Party, on Thursday became the first superdelegate from Wisconsin to back Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. The decision is particularly noteworthy because it means Sanders will be able to claim at minimum a majority of delegates in Wisconsin after winning the state by more than 13 points. The vote totals from Tuesday's primary gave Sanders a 48-38 edge in delegates based on popular vote, but Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has received endorsements from six of the state's 10 superdelegates, who are party leaders and members of Congress that can vote for whomever they choose. If she had received support from all of the superdelegates the total delegate split would have been a tie. Three other superdelegates — U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, party chairwoman Martha Laning and Democratic National Committee member Jason Rae — are all waiting until June to commit their vote. host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/bernie-sanders-picks-up-first-superdelegate-from-wisconsin/article_c5b0b3e3-0bf2-5c0a-8c9e-20cb985d3a93.html
