Hondo woman is indicted for firing on police officers; 20-year-old faces 27 felony charges
A homeless woman from Hondo has been indicted on 27 criminal charges after she allegedly fired numerous shots at police earlier this month. Josephine Clara Prins, 20, was indicted by the Chaves County grand jury last week on charges of aggravated assault upon a peace officer with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and multiple counts of receiving stolen firearms, according to the indictment. Bail was set at $10,000 cash only. The Roswell Police Department said in a news release earlier this month that Prins fired numerous gunshots toward several police officers as they, along with the RPD SWAT unit, attempted to execute a high-risk search warrant at a home in the 500 block of East Hendricks Street. The warrant was considered high-risk because, according to the news release, there was the possibility of numerous firearms being inside the house.
