Bernie Sanders speaks to 800 in Pine Ridge; more than 2,000 gather for speech in Rapid CityPromises of a better relationship between the federal government and Native Americans, and vows to boost opportunities for all Americans, highlighted Bernie Sanders’ messages on a campaign swing through western South Dakota on Thursday. Sanders, the U.S. Senator from Vermont who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, met first with about 800 people in a gymnasium on the Pine Ridge Reservation. In the afternoon, he spoke before a crowd of more than 2,000 people under a sunny sky at Memorial Park in Rapid City. He was slated to speak in Sioux Falls on Thursday night.
