McDonald's sued for allegedly discriminating against blind customersThe long-held rule that McDonald's customers use a car in the drive-thru at night in order to be served is being challenged by a Louisiana man who says the requirement is discriminatory. Scott Magee, who is legally blind, filed a lawsuit last week stating that the fast-food chain is discriminating against him and his disability via their drive-thrus. Magee's suit stated that he is unable to buy food at McDonald's during their drive-thru-only hours and that "McDonald's is denying blind individuals equal access to the goods and services they provide," according to the lawsuit, which Eater.com posted Tuesday. Magee's inability to drive keeps him from being unable to indulge in McDonald's food. The lawsuit further stated: Magee's lawyer, Roberto Luis Costales, spoke with the Chicago Tribune and suggested that the fast-food chain could provide some accommodations for people with disabilities, such as allowing customers with disabilities to order by phone and have their meal brought outside the restaurant.
