COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina House passed a bill clarifying the state's border with North Carolina after two decades of work using technology to measure it to the centimeter. The new measurements have meant an address change for some. The House initially appeared to kill the bill Wednesday after an amendment passed allowing a $5,000 tax credit for people affected by the change. But members changed their mind after the credit was removed. The Carolinas have been using GPS technology to trace instructions given by the King of England when the states were just colonies. That extra clarity left 16 people who thought they lived in South Carolina with property in North Carolina, and three families changing to South Carolina addresses.
