White House hits back at Palin for blaming son’s legal problems on ObamaThe White House shot back Thursday at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s claim that President Obama was somehow to blame for her son’s recent domestic assault charges. “I don’t know if the President saw the remarks. I can tell you that the reaction of some people is to make light of the rhetoric that we see on the campaign trail, particularly from Gov. Palin, but the fact is domestic violence is not a joke,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during his daily press briefing. “The instinct that some people have when hearing her rhetoric is to make light of it,” he added. “But in this case, the issues she’s talking about are quite serious and certainly issues.” Earnest was responding to comments Palin made Wednesday night, blaming Obama for not having done enough for U.S. war veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, including her son, who was arrested on assault charges earlier in the week. We've had something like 600,000 disability claims coming out of the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions and occupations. There were 50,000+ wounded, of which maybe 10,000 were grievously wounded or mutilated. All this was in consequence of the decisions of one George W. Bush.
Track Palin entered the military in 2008, under the Bush administration, and exited presumably in 2010. It is unfathomable how anyone could blame Obama except for slowness in getting the troops out of there.
When the news came out that the White House had responded, my first reaction was that it was a mistake to respond to the brain-dead accusations of a flake. However, the press release was well worded.
